Ian Hu
Ian is dedicated to helping clients obtain fair compensation for their injuries. After completing a Master's degree in philosophy at the University of Toronto Ian obtained his J.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School. As a law student Ian worked in the Worker's Rights Group at Parkdale Community Legal Services. After completing his law degree Ian articled at a leading Toronto litigation law firm where he represented injured plaintiffs as well as insurance companies. Ian's practice focuses on motor vehicle accidents, accident benefits, occupiers' liability, wrongful death and medical negligence. As a member of Oatley, Vigmond Ian's practice is restricted to representing seriously injured accident victims. He greatly enjoys finding satisfying solutions for his clients.
Ian also speaks Mandarin and Cantonese. He is currently serving a term as a Vice President of the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL).

November 12, 2011 - Social Networking and Privacy, the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers Annual Conference
Ian prepared and presented at the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers annual conference and continuing professional development program.
April 5, 2011 - Kohl v. ING Insurance Company of Canada
Ian was successful in compelling the insurance company to produce its adjuster's file regarding how it handled the claims file of Oatley, Vigmond's client, who suffered a brain injury in a car collision. In addition the Superior Court of Justice allowed Ian's client to make additional claims against the insurance company.

October 5, 2010 - Deering v. Scugog (Township), 2010 ONSC 5502
Roger Oatley, Troy Lehman and Ian were successful before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice on October 5, 2010. Shannon Deering was seriously injured when the car Shannon drove spun out of control on a road the court found did not meet the standard of care expected of municipalities. The court found that the Township of Scugog and the City of Oshawa failed to provide adequate warning of the dangerous road and were two-thirds at fault for Shannon’s injuries.
