That duty of care requires that the manufacturer use all reasonable skill and care in the manufacture of the product. Similarly a seller or distributor has a duty to the public not to sell or distribute a product that it knows or ought to know is unsafe. If the seller, distributor or manufacturer breached the applicable standard of care and that breach caused or contributed to an injury then the seller, manufacturer or distributor will be legally responsible for any resulting losses. Compensation for those losses may include damages for pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment of life as well as future care costs and other economic losses
